BLS CPR AED - Classroom

BLS CPR AED is an instructor led, and classroom based course scheduled for 3 hours (usually runs shorter). Upon successful completion of the course participants will be issued an official American Heart Association® certification valid for 2 years. Your eCard will be issued on the same day.

BLS, CPR, and AED are all related to life-saving emergency procedures, especially in cases of cardiac emergencies. Here’s what each of them stands for:

  1. BLS (Basic Life Support): This refers to the basic medical care provided to someone who is experiencing a life-threatening illness or injury. It includes CPR (Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation) and other fundamental interventions such as airway management and basic circulation support, typically performed by bystanders or healthcare providers until advanced care arrives.

  2. CPR (Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation): This is an emergency procedure used when someone's heart stops beating. It involves chest compressions and, sometimes, rescue breaths to help maintain circulation and oxygenation of the brain and other vital organs until normal heart function can be restored or medical help arrives. CPR can be performed on adults, children, and infants.

  3. AED (Automated External Defibrillator): This is a portable device used to treat people who are in cardiac arrest (when their heart stops beating properly). The AED analyzes the heart’s rhythm and, if necessary, delivers a shock to restore a normal rhythm. It’s typically used along with CPR in emergencies.

Together, BLS, CPR, and AED are critical skills that can save lives in situations like heart attacks or other cardiac emergencies. BLS training often covers how to perform CPR and use an AED.

BLS Heart Code

BLS HeartCode is an online and blended learning program offered by the American Heart Association (AHA) for Basic Life Support (BLS) training. The program is designed to teach individuals how to respond to cardiac emergencies and perform life-saving techniques such as CPR (Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation) and the use of an AED (Automated External Defibrillator).

Here’s how BLS HeartCode works:

  1. Online Learning:

    • The first part of the training is done online, where participants can go through interactive modules that teach CPR, AED, and basic airway management techniques. These modules include videos, animations, and quizzes to ensure that learners understand the concepts.

  2. Hands-On Skills Session:

    • After completing the online portion, participants must attend a hands-on skills session (often conducted in person or virtually). During this session, a certified instructor will guide the learners in practicing CPR and using an AED on manikins to demonstrate their competence in performing the skills.

  3. Certification:

    • Upon successful completion of the online learning and skills practice session, participants will receive a BLS certification from the AHA. This certification is typically valid for two years.

The BLS HeartCode program is especially useful for healthcare providers, first responders, and others who need to maintain their BLS certification but prefer the flexibility of online learning.
